With the huge spread adoption of adaptive learning tech, there have been improvements in the ways students learn. Adaptive learning technology allows students to focus on what they don’t know. So, they can master and put in their efforts on topics that matter the most. Most of the universities and top educational institutes restructured and revaluated their curriculum models, student support services, classroom structure, etc. Even they have begun to experiment on adaptive learning as a supplement for the traditional classroom approach. However, in this adaptation of the adaptive learning platform, it is the faculties that hold the key to optimizing it.
Frankly, the wealth of detailed information about students put the faculty in somewhat a unique position. It teaches them without needing to wonder and think about what students know and aren’t aware of. Just think about lifting the veil in such a way that you are removing the ignorance present in the knowledge. Slowly, you would be able to view the true potential present in adaptive learning. So, it becomes a brand new approach for not only the student and their learning skills but it even helps the faculty get empowered in being an efficient teacher.
Now the latest paradigm underscores the basic role of faculties as the major facilitators in the classroom. It allows them to leverage the industrial experience they have and the knowledge of course content for meeting student’s needs especially at the point they are and what to learn next.
Frankly, it doesn’t take a long time to finally realize that the professor-centric model of university teaching as well as learning. Simple learning won’t be the best fit for adaptive learning. In adaptive learning, there is a version shift i.e. the long-rumored shift from the ‘sage on the stage' to ‘the guide on the side’. Well, this is not an easy transition for various professors.
To summarize the targeted faculty development and training program starts with identifying the top faculty performers. It even consists of finding the best classroom and facilitation methods for improving the students’ outcomes.
